Anti Sexual Harassment Campaign visits Newcastle Central Station

On Friday 17 November, I headed to Newcastle’s Central Station to check out an Anti Sexual Harassment Campaign, led by National Rail and British Transport Police. The campaign launched at Waterloo station earlier this year but is now traveling around the country.

As part of the campaign, Rail Delivery Group were hosting an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience, encouraging bystander reporting. Anyone visiting Central Station was invited to take part and put on a VR headset. Three different

Summer Recap: Krack-ing Krakow

Towards the end of August, my two friends and I travelled to Krakow, Poland. It was a jam-packed five days of sightseeing, good food, and wonderful weather. Krakow is a beautiful, interesting city; here’s some of my highlights:

Otherwise known as the Jewish Quarter, we repeatedly went to Kazimierz. It was filled with food markets, coffeeshops, bookshops, bars, and more. Krakow is a very cheap city – we had cocktails for less than £3 in Kazimierz! It was also great to walk around the area and ta

Rediscovering Teenage Girlhood

It’s experiencing emotions you didn’t even know existed, learning about the woman you’re becoming, and making some of the best — and worst — memories of your life. Being a teenage girl is frightening, difficult, rewarding, delightful, valuable and so much more.

I’m writing this as a 20-year-old, which means that my teenage years are not that far behind me. Despite this, as I reflect back on my teenage years, I barely recognise the person I once was.

To get you prepared, I’ve complied a list of the top 3 eateries around the North-East that are worth visiting if you’re after a pancake-fix. All of which have been tried and tested by yours truly, of course!

It won’t come to a shock to anyone that The Dispensary graces my Pancake Day hit list. At this point, I’m sure everyone and their mother have been to The D

Mind the Orgasm Gap

‘Orgasm’: the highest point of sexual excitement, characterised by intense sensation and usually accompanied in the male by ejaculation of sperm and in the female by involuntary vaginal contractions. Sounds like a fair deal: both males and females experience the feeling of pleasure during intercourse. However, the definition above gives no indication of the disparity between the frequency of men's and women’s orgasms when taking part in sexual intimacy; the Archives of Sexual Behaviour studied o

Over 200 people take to the streets to 'Reclaim the Night'

Saturday, 26 November saw the streets of Newcastle consumed by the chants of women, marching to Reclaim the Night. Starting on Bigg Market, and leading to Baltic Square by the Quayside, crowds of women rallied together, taking to the streets, raising their voices, and demanding for an end to gender-based violence.

Reclaim the Night marches started as part of the Women’s Liberation Movement in 1977, urging for a change to the safety of women and girls, where ‘woman’ is defined as anyone who self
